About This Tool
The Alcohol Impact Calculator translates weekly drinking habits into concrete health and financial numbers: calories, sugar load, liver processing hours, and the gains you could expect from a sober month. It uses standard drink definitions (14 g alcohol per drink) and USDA calorie averages for each beverage type.
Liver processing time is based on the well-established rate of approximately one standard drink per hour. During that time, the liver prioritises alcohol metabolism over other critical functions — including blood sugar regulation, hormone processing, and toxin filtration.
